Authentic Colorado Restaurant Closes After Owner Sadly Dies At 50

If you ever found yourself in the Santa Fe Arts District down in Denver, you no doubt have seen the quirky looking red stucco building that has a big hot dog loaded with toppings painted at the top.

And if you've ever been lucky enough to stop in for a bite, you already know the place I'm talking about and just how good it was. But sadly, it is no more.

Mile High Vienna Stand has abruptly shut its doors after its owner sadly passed away Dec. 3. Sonny Jarock, 50, was well known by the Chicago-inspired hot dog joint's customers, for the more than 15 years greeting patrons, telling stories and loving what he did.

A post on their Facebook page shared the news and the tributes have been pouring in ever since.

"Chicago Style at 5280'" is proudly displayed on their website, serving authentic Chicago-styled dogs, Italian beef, fries, onion rings and more, in addition to Chicago's own Old Style beer during Hot Dog Happy Hour, between 3 and 5 PM each day.

Mile High Vienna Stand was Jarock's dream, ever since he was a kid spending time with his dad in Chicago, visiting some of the city's best known and longest standing hot dog stands and Italian beef restaurants while on their way to Cubs games. It's about as Chicago as Chicago gets, and he brought a slice of it to Denver for a decade and a half.

There's no word yet what may happy next to the business or the building.
