In 2024, the citizens of Loveland voted to once again allow marijuana dispensaries within the city. In March of 2026, there was a sign that one former businesses would be coming back to the Northern Colorado town.

How Long Did Loveland Prohibit Marijuana Dispensaries?

It was in 2010 that Loveland voters voted to ban medical marijuana centers/businesses. With that, 11 places that had licenses had to shut down. When the voters changed their minds in 2024, they also agreed that those 11 would have priority in getting relicensed.

The City of Loveland spent a year deciding on the regulations that would be in place when it came to dispensaries, which are:

  • Dispensaries cannot be within one-mile of each other.
  • Dispensaries cannot be within 1,000 feet of a school/other institution.
  • Dispensaries can only be open from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

The Reporter-Herald reported on how, even though they had first-priority in getting re-licensed, it was still difficult for those former operators. The issue being that once the first one gets OK'd, then it gets harder to figure out where the next ones can go.

One of the former dispensaries was Rocky Mountain Kind. Before they closed, they were at 1710 West Eisenhower. With today's regulations, even if they could get that space again, it would be too close to schools. It looks like, however, they did find two spaces to re-start operations.

One Operator, Two Dispensary Locations in Loveland

in mid-March on Facebook, someone had shared a photo of the back of their Safeway receipt, where many businesses buy advertising space. One advertiser on that receipt was Rocky Mountain Kind. They were promoting how they'd be "Coming Soon" at two locations:

  • 340 West 37th Street - (Behind World Beverage.)
  • 1417 North Cleveland Avenue (near Eisenhower.)
