Big Shot: ‘Longest Blindfolded Cornhole Shot’ Being Attempted in Colorado

Will it take just 10 attempts? Will it take more than 100 attempts? Trying to make a blindfolded cornhole shot can't be easy. Will this Loveland, Colorado, man have what it takes to make it into Guinness again?

He invented National Tailgating Day. He's been in the blockbuster "Barbie," and he's already set one Guinness Book of World Records Cornhole shot. Will we see him get in there twice?

It was in June 2022 that Loveland's Luke Lorick "held court" at The Foundry in downtown Loveland to attempt the Guinness Book of World Records' Longest Backwards Cornhole Shot.

It was a glorious day, going for that Longest Backwards Cornhole Shot, though there weren't many spectators present as Lorick began shooting.

Just a few moments later, however, at a shot of over 36 feet, his mission was complete. A few weeks later, he received his official notification of obtaining the World Record.

LOVELAND, COLORADO, CURRENTLY HAS FIVE GUINNESS RECORDS:

• In 2005, Suzy Bralliar set the record for the World's Largest Number of Unicorn Related Items. Suzy had 2,719. This record stands today.
• In 2009,  the Loveland Roadrunners organized the World's Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Vampires (354).
• In 2011, by competing in the NPC Ambrust Pro Gym Warrior Classic Bodybuilding Championships in Loveland, E. Wilma Conner became the World's Oldest Bodybuilder (Female.) This record stands today.
• In 2019, by having 41,769 of them, Sharon Lipinski and Christine Forster set the record for the World's Longest Line of Toothbrushes. This record stands today.
• In 2022, with a shot of 36 feet, 7 inches, Luke Lorick made the World's Longest Backwards Cornhole Shot.

WHAT IS THE CURRENT RECORD FOR 'LONGEST BLINDFOLDED CORNHOLE SHOT?'

Lorick will be attempting to go farther than 45 feet, which is the current record that was set in 2022 in Illinois. His goal is 46 feet for that day.

HOW DID THIS NEW ATTEMPT IN COLORADO COME ABOUT?

Luke will be participating as a celebrity in the annual "Rope for Hope" event with Loveland's House of Neighborly Service that day; they asked him if he had any ideas on how to bring more to the day's festivities.

Luke thought another Guinness World Record attempt would be great and landed on attempting the "Longest Blindfolded Cornhole Shot."

10 a.m. Saturday, September 23, 2023, at The Foundry in downtown Loveland, Colorado.

This one I’ve had to train longer than the first record as having your eyes covered changes your spatial orientation and learning mechanics to launch a bag 46 feet is a slightly different body movement from regulation cornhole.

On gameday I’ve prepped myself that I’ll either break the current world record or they will have to take me off in an ambulance haha.
