Buc-ee's in Colorado is a big deal, to many: the jerky, the brisket, the nuggets.

There's one reason that many will be going to Buc-ee's in Colorado and has nothing to do with what's inside; if anything, it's another reason to put them on the "Let's stop there," list.

There has been a lot of excitement about Buc-ee's opening in Johnstown; people waited overnight and in-line for hours in the cold, to get in there. Buc-ee's has a "large as Texas" following, and those in the Northern Colorado area were not shy to show their love of them.

What is DEF That You'll Find at Colorado's Buc-ee's?

Of of the nearly 50 Buc-ee's locations across America, only about half of them carry DEF, including the one in Colorado. With it being right off of I-25, that could be a reason that they decided to have it.

DEF is Diesel Exhaust Fluid, which aids in vehicles with diesel engines reducing their harmful emissions, by turning those hazardous nitrogen oxides and NO2 into harmless nitrogen and water which exists the tailpipe.

If Buc-ee's Isn't a Truck Stop, Why Carry DEF?

Many large heavy-duty trucks, RVs and buses run on diesel, and DEF is needed about every 500 miles; so, it only makes sense to make it available.

Also with Colorado's stricter and stricter emissions regulations, Buc-ee's may as well have the option for diesel engines, even if they don't carry diesel fuel or serve semis.

How Much is DEF at the Pump?

DEF runs about $4.25/gallon; it is also available at nearby Johnson's Corner, which is a truck stop, where Buc-ee's is not.
