
Boyd Lake Announces Major Change for 2026 Summer Season
If there's one thing folks in Colorado like to do, it's get outdoors; including, getting on Boyd Lake in Loveland. Over 700,000 people visit Boyd Lake State Park every year, most of them looking to get out on the water.
The Marina for Boyd Lake Will be Closed During the 2026 Season
Of the hundreds of thousands of outdoor enthusiasts arriving at Boyd Lake State Park for the 2026 season, a majority are going to be having to make a big adjustment, as the marina for the lake will be closed all season, because the concessionaire that they had didn't renew their contract for 2026, and there's not enough time to find another.
The marina at Boyd Lake, when open, is generally open everyday 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
What Happens at the Boyd Lake Marina, When It's Open?
It's going to be a "substantial" hassle for the 2026 season for people wanting to use the lake for boating/kayaking/fishing, as the marina usually handles a lot:
- Boat/Waverunner Rentals.
- Full-Service Fuel Dock.
- Fishing/Camping/Boating Supplies.
- Live Bait.
- Drinks/Snacks.
- Moorings.
- Slip Rentals.

With the marina being closed, a lot of people will be needing to go out of their way when it comes to getting ready for fun on the lake, as it the lake itself will still be open for boating, kayaking, fishing, paddleboarding, etc.
What's the Department of Wildlife's Position on Personal Floating Marinas?
The CPW stated that you cannot operate your own "business" on CPW property unless approved; but the did say, "stay tuned as we are working out the next details to make it happen." It's unclear what that means, exactly.
