It's long been rumored that Aldi would be coming to Colorado eventually, as the grocer chain has announced they would be adding stores all across the United States, including the western half of the country.

The picture is finally starting to take shape as the chain has finally filed formal plans to build in the Centennial State. It has been said that they ultimately plan to build about 50 stores in the state over the course of the next handful of years.

There are several different locations in play for new Aldi stores to be opened as soon as construction is complete.

For the moment, it looks like the "closest-to-NoCo" Aldi location will be located at East 97th Avenue and Grant Street in Thornton, according to 9News in Denver.

Denverite also reports they have filed plans for the Green Valley Ranch neighborhood at Tower Road and East 57th Avenue. This is in addition to a plan for Denver's City Park neighborhood, with a proposed site located at 9111 E. 40th Ave, which is already home to a retail area.

Where and when any Fort Collins, Loveland or Greeley stores are to be built remains to be seen, but if you're a fan of their low prices and approach of selling primarily high-quality, private-label goods rather than the name brands other stores sell, you're in luck. It should be coming soon.

They also offer unique cost-cutting measures like coin-operated shopping carts and minimalist displays. If you've ever been to a grocery store in Europe, this is the norm over there. Aldi is based in Germany, so this makes sense!
