All Colorado residents must be able to recognize the signs of a scam and know how to protect themselves. Trying to keep up with all of the latest scams affecting us is exhausting, but you will be thankful that you have the knowledge when a scammer comes your way.
I recently set up an app on my phone that can identify scam calls. I have already received 11 scam calls today. At the time of writing, it is 3:00 p.m.
However, many of us must be aware of the next phase of scam calls. This new wave is concerning for everybody.
New Wave of Scamming Coming to Colorado
Forbes believes that there will be an artificial intelligence surge of scams in 2025. They believe that the technology has developed at an incredibly rapid rate. You may have been a target for one of these scams already.
Forbes emphasized that they anticipate the rise of deepfake audio, video, and photos. A big scam to be aware of is artificial intelligence-generated video that impersonates people you know.
A possible scam you may run into is a call from what you think is a loved one. They may need money because they are in a bad situation.
Other Deepfake Scenarios in Colorado
You also need to be aware of deepfake videos from your co-workers and friends. Deepfakes can also steal the identity of celebrities.
Do you remember the scam that went around of celebrities adding strangers on social media? Do you have somebody in your life who believed that Dwyane Johnson actually loved them?
Then the scammer will use the victim's emotions as a tool to ask for money. It's incredibly sad. Deepfake artificial intelligence technology is taking this scam to a whole new level.
We expect many Coloradans to be tricked out of money and other financial assets.
