Major Transformation Ahead for Vacant Northern Colorado Grocery Store
An area of Northern Colorado that has not been touched since 2014 is about to get a brand new look. Do you remember the old Albertson's that was on North College in Fort Collins? The grocery store closed over a decade ago and has been vacant ever since.
Well, a new look will be coming to northern Fort Collins.
Major Changes Coming to Fort Collins
The city of Fort Collins announced in a press release that the Fort Collins Urban Renewal Authority Board passed a resolution to purchase the property where the former grocery store is located.
For reference, the vacant grocery store is located at 1636 North College Ave, right by Dollar Tree and Burger King. The building itself is 50,097 square feet and has additional land.
The chairperson and mayor of Fort Collins, Jeni Arndt says that this resolution is a huge step forward towards improving the neighborhood.
What Will Be Changed in Fort Collins?
That answer is currently not clear. I do not think it would be a great idea to have another grocery store. I live a few minutes away from this vacant grocery store and I will be interested to see how the area changes with new development.
The Fort Collins Urban Renewal Authority Board says they are speaking with community leaders and residents to brainstorm ideas for what to do with the building and the development around it.
Details about the specific redevelopment plans have not been finalized. However, we do know that changes are coming soon and we are excited to see what they are and how they impact the future of Fort Collins.
