ISS Captures an Image of Denver and Chicago in the Same Picture
On a clear night and at the right time, you can see the International Space Station whiz by in Northern Colorado. In the summer months, we are usually outside for hours after the sun goes down. With the help of star guide apps, you can confirm that the little dot you see floating across the night sky is the International Space Station.
While the International Space Station may be a tiny little speck in the sky to us, the crew of the International Space Station gets quite a view of Earth. Recently, I found a really cool photo that was taken from the space station, and that one photo covers a lot of ground.
NASA posted a surreal photo taken on November 10, 2023, from the International Space Station that was 260 miles above the state of Colorado. In the photo, you can see the city lights of Denver all the way to the immense glow of Chicago, Illinois.
The photo also shows off many of the cities and towns in the Midwest region of the United States:
- The communities that make up Northern Colorado
- Cheyenne, Wyoming
- Kansas City, Missouri
- Saint Louis, Missouri
- Omaha, Nebraska
- Des Moines, Iowa
- Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
