Hope for a winning season was seemingly high for the Denver Broncos this season. Optimism was pretty high, starting with a new head coach and a Super Bowl-winning quarterback. However, that optimism quickly fizzled out with loss after loss as the weeks went by on the field.

The Denver Broncos have not had a double-digit winning season since 2015 and the 2022 season seems to be one of, if not the worst seasons in recent history. While the Denver Broncos' defense is one of the best, the offense is rated dead last in the entire league. After an embarrassing 51 to 14 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Christmas Day, the Denver Broncos management team appears to have had enough.

The Denver Broncos Tweeted out the news of Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett's departure on Monday, December 26.

Following extensive converstations with George and our ownership group, we deterimined a new direction would ultimately be in the best interest of the Broncos. This change was made now out of resptect for everyone involved and allows us to immedtiately begin the search for a new head coach.

Said in the statement from Denver Broncos owner and CEO, Greg Penner, adding:

We recognize and appreciate this organization's championship history, and we understand we have not met that standard. Our fancs deserve much better, and I can't say enough about their loyalty during such a challenging stretch for our team.

Since Gary Kubiak's departure after the 2016 season, Nathaniel Hackett has been the third head coach for the Denver Broncos succeeding Vic Fangio and Vance Joseph.

Two games still remain in the regular season for the Denver Broncos. If both games against the Kansas City Chiefs (12-3) and the Los Angeles Chargers (8-6), which seems to be highly likely given how the current season has gone, the 2022 season will go down as one of the worst in Denver Broncos history.
