According to KDVR, the Colorado State Patrol has released its auto theft data for 2024 and we now know what vehicles were the most stolen in the state last year.

While we may be looking at the cars most stolen in Colorado, there is some good news. The Colorado State Patrol says that auto thefts have been 25 percent lower in 2024 than in 2023 and 41 percent lower than in 2022. A staggering $121 million was saved in total losses in 2024 compared to 2023.

The top ten cities in Colorado where auto thefts ranked the highest were Commerce City, Englewood, Greeley, Thornton, Westminster, Lakewood, Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and Aurora. Denver was the city that had the highest ranking for auto thefts in the state.

The best course of action to not become a victim of auto theft in Colorado is to take simple steps such as locking your car, taking your keys out of the vehicle, and using a steering wheel lock.
