Lady Gaga could have her bank account bursting at the seams. According to MSN and Forbes Magazine, the pop princess could rake in over 100-million dollars in 2011.

She already has 41 scheduled shows as part of a tour, a new album, and who knows how many appearances, interviews, licensing opportunities, and Gaga-inspired products on the shelves. (FYI, her new album is called ‘Born This Way’ and will hit stores May 23rd. She doesn’t have a confirmed Colorado date yet for her tour, but we’ll keep you updated on the events page.)

I can barely imagine having 100-million dollars, letting alone earning that in a single year. I also wonder what the world could be like if we invested that kind of money and attention on careers that have a bigger impact on our future than entertainment does. I’m not knocking Lady Gaga, she is good at what she does, but it hardly seems like what she does is worth 100-million dollars.

I love football, but do I think Peyton Manning deserves 110-million dollars to play a game? Do I think I a big bank CEO who spends more time on vacation than doing any actual work deserve a 5-million dollar bonus? Do I think Politicians deserve hundreds of thousands of dollars to sit around and argue about what’s best for us ‘commoners’? No, but that stuff happens all the time.

Imagine what kind of place it would be if teachers, firefighters, police officers, doctors, nurses, scientists, and people that make the world and better and safer place were revered(and paid) as much as entertainers and athletes. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy both athletes and entertainers, but somehow, our priorities got screwed up along the way.
