A Colorado man who's been homeless for the last 6 years won $500,000 in the state lottery on Friday.

Michael Engfors, 61, has battled alcoholism and even lost his business, but never gave up hope that his life would turn around.

"It couldn't happen to a neater guy," said Dr. Vince Savage, executive director of the Aspen Homeless Shelter. "He's from here, he's worked all his life. Sure, he's had problems."

Engfors took a chance and spent $10 on a lottery ticket. He ended up beating odds of 875,000 to 1.

Savage drove Engfors to Grand Junction on Monday to collect his prize. Engfors plans to use some of his money to track down his daughter.
