Bad news if you plan on traveling west of Loveland today, CDOT is completely closing U.S. Highway 34 for emergency repairs.

All lanes will be shut down around mile-marker 86, and remain closed from approximately 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CDOT planned the closure for emergency culvert repairs on the road.

A detour will be set up so motorists can take Glade Road to Larimer County Road 27 and back on to US 34. That detour is about 2.5 miles long.

It might behoove you to plan a different route if that stretch of highway was in your travel plans today.

PLANNED CLOSURE - US 34 Eastbound / Westbound West of Loveland (Milemarker 86.5-86.5)

Planned closure because of road work. Emergency culvert repair, Tuesday, May 17th, 9am to 5pm. Road closure will begin May 17th, 2011 at 9:00am. Alternate route is Glade Road (at milepost 87.3) to Larimer County Road 27 and back to US 34.
