Today is Presidents' Day. A day celebrated on the third Monday of every February to honor our presidents. It was originally established to honor George Washington, but then moved to include Abraham Lincoln, and now it is used by many to honor all US Presidents.

As a new parent I have high hopes of doing fun things to help my kid learn on holidays like this. (Let's hope I can keep my own word on that as she gets older!) Read on to find links to some ideas for crafts, foods and decorations you can make to celebrate President's Day.

      • Alphabet Soup has some fun facts about the holiday and a little bit about Washington and Lincoln, some recipes, and even some printable coloring pages for the kids.
      • Kaboose has a ton of President's Day-related arts and crafts. Everything from crate paper flags, to powdered wigs made from cotton balls, finger puppets and more.
      • DLTK also has a plethora of President’s Day crafts, including some pretty cool paper dolls.
      • Taste of Home has a page of President's Day recipes. I think today could be a good day for a "chocolate cherry Lincoln log" and a "George Washington cherry cobbler" don't you think?
      • Songs For Teaching has some President’s Day songs for kids.
