An elderly woman has died after being hit by a pickup truck in Greeley on Tuesday, according to a press release from the Greeley Police Department. The incident occurred at 4:22 p.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of 13th Street and 35th Avenue.

Numerous witnesses called 9-1-1 after a red GMC pickup truck hit a woman riding an electric mobility scooter. After the accident occurred, the suspect fled the scene while dragging the scooter and debris approximately six blocks.

The suspect fled to her home where she later contacted dispatch. Officers arrived at her home where they located the suspect and the 2007 GMC Sierra truck. The woman has been identified as 31-year-old Latoya Rodriguez and has been booked into the Weld County Jail on charges of a Hit and Run traffic accident involving a death, failing to yield right of way to a pedestrian within a crosswalk, and driving under revocation.

The victim's identity has not been released by the Weld County Coroner's Office.
