Greeley-Evans Crime Log: Destructive Rabbits, Aggressive Squirrels, and a Sketchy Fruit Salesman

Some of the calls that the Greeley-Evans Police responded to between August 17 and August 22, 2016 will definitely leave you laughing, or maybe just scratching your head. Check out the crime log below.

Wednesday, August 17

8:30 a.m.: Greeley police received a call from a person demanding the police cut down a neighbor’s tarp because the caller did not like it. When police informed the caller they could not do that, the caller yelled at them and hung up.

11 a.m.: Greeley police received a call from the 1400 block of 33rd Avenue complaining about the next door neighbor because the neighbor is a beekeeper with swarms of bees not far from the caller’s house.

Noon: Greeley police were notified by a caller in the 1800 block of 22nd Avenue of a neighbor’s two-legged dog destroying the caller’s fence, despite the neighbor’s repeated promises to control the animal and repair the fence. The caller said he would try to talk to the neighbors before getting police involved.

6:30 p.m.: Greeley police received a call from a person at a gas station in the 700 block of 13th Street. The caller said three children were trying to start a car using a screwdriver. The caller said they had been doing this for a half hour or so.

8 p.m.: Greeley police received a report from the 900 block of 47th Avenue of two men “aggressively selling cologne” out of a black car. The caller said the aggressive salesmen put their hands on his car, although he drove off after that and was no longer on scene, but felt the police should know.

Thursday, August 18

3 a.m.: Greeley police received a call from a person at a gas station on 29th Street, saying there were two men who appeared drunk in the gas station, one of whom was naked. The two left after a brief period of time, and it was reported “the one with clothes on was driving.”

10 a.m.: Greeley police were notified of a house in the 1800 block of 10th Avenue with a sign in its lawn reading “daughter drop-off.” The caller wanted the sign taken down from the lawn, which the caller believed was a fraternity house.

Noon: Greeley police received a call saying a black leather vest and a knife had been found in a super market trash can in the 2100 block of 35th Avenue. Store employees put the vest and knife in a bag and stored it in their manager’s office until officers arrived to pick it up.

1 p.m.: A caller reported to Greeley police that a man in the 2400 block of 12th Avenue was carrying two oranges around, asking if people wanted to buy fruit. The caller said they felt he was casing a nearby house for a burglary.

Friday, August 19

2:30 p.m.: Greeley police received a phone call from a person who claimed their yard was being destroyed by a herd of domestic rabbits. Police spoke with the reporting party and notified them of their options.

11:30 p.m.: Greeley police were notified of a noise disturbance in the parking lot of Northridge High School. Three people were racing dirt bikes there, peeling out and being very loud.

Saturday, August 20

9 a.m.: Greeley police received a call from a party in the 2300 block of 5th Avenue claiming they’d found a naked man in the backseat of their car that morning. Upon seeing the man, they returned to their house and called the police. Police responded to the scene and found the man intoxicated, but conscious and alert.

Sunday, August 21

11:30 a.m.: Greeley police received a call from the 800 block of 51st Avenue from a caller claiming a roommate had created a “toxic condition” by using air freshener. The caller claimed the air freshener got into the air ducts and polluted the air.

Monday, August 22

12:30 a.m.: Greeley police received reports of a car parked at the intersection of 58th Avenue and 13th Street. When officers responded to the scene to check on the vehicle, the cars occupants said they were simply parked there while “trying to catch a Pokemon.”

11:30 a.m.: Greeley police received a call from a building in the 1600 block of 29th Avenue Place. The caller said squirrels were climbing into the building and attacking the residents. The squirrels became aggressive if people did not feed them, the reporting party said. They asked for help in relocating the animals.
