One of the most well-known companies in the modern world, Google, is developing much more than search engines and smartphones.  Even better, many of Google's more advanced, futuristic ambitions are handled by a very secretive division of the company, known only as "Google X."

Yesterday, The Huffington Post reported on augmented reality "Terminator"-style glasses that Google X is developing.   These glasses will apparently feature a Heads Up Display (HUD) in one of the lenses, and a digital cursor that can be controlled with head tilts.

(The glasses) will feature an augmented reality display that will give the a user a unique view of his or her surroundings, a view more advanced than one viewed through traditional glasses and more immersive than on a smartphone.

Google X is also said to be working on several other futuristic projects, including driver-less cars, robots (of course), and a space elevator.

I can't decide what's cooler: the idea that Google is working on these things, or the idea that they have a clandestine, Bond-esque lab somewhere where they think this stuff up!
