Girl Suspended for Taking Butter Knife to School
This is a little ridiculous! A 13-year-old girl in Massachusetts has been suspended for bringing a butter knife to school so she could cut her fruit.
What happened was this girl brought a butter knife to cut her fruit because she has braces and can't take bites out of whole fruit. The Vice Principal walked by and noticed the knife and took her to his office and suspended her.
The principal says that they were just following guidlines that are in the handbook stating that kids can't bring knives to school. The parents of this girl signed the handbook but thinks that the suspension is a little much.
I can see both sides. To prevent this the girl could have cut her fruit at home before school but I do think that maybe the suspension is a little much. The should have assessed the situation and realized it was a butter knife and went from there.
