Full Overnight Closures of I-25/Highway 34 on May 13-14
Starting at 9 p.m. on May 13 and 14 until the following mornings at 5 a.m, detours will be in place at Highway 34 and I-25.
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be taking down those nice-looking steel arch beams that are part of the current bridge over I-25 on Highway 34, and will start working on a new bridge.
The construction is a part of the continuing I-25 North Express Lanes: Johnstown to Fort Collins project; this bridge was not a part of the initial plan, but was added later on.
From CDOT's press release, here's how the detours for those nights will work:
Northbound and southbound I-25 traffic will exit I-25 at US 34, continue through the traffic signal onto temporary detour pavement and back onto I-25.
Eastbound US 34/northbound I-25 traffic from the west side of I-25 will detour on southbound I-25 to Colorado Highway 402, go east and continue onto northbound I-25 to US 34. Northbound I-25 traffic will continue through the traffic signal onto temporary detour pavement to northbound I-25.
Westbound US 34/southbound I-25 traffic from the east side of I-25 will detour on northbound I-25 to Crossroads Boulevard, go west and continue onto southbound I-25 to US 34. Southbound I-25 traffic will continue through the traffic signal onto temporary detour pavement to southbound I-25.
Most days, I take Highway 34 over I-25 on my way to work; it'll be interesting to see how this bridge replacement goes.
