The Fort Collins Symphony is set to do a tribute performance for the legendary composer John Williams on April 5th.

Although his name may not sound all that familiar, John Williams' compositions are sure to bring a quite familiar sound to your ears. Williams' work consists of dozens of famous movies including the theme songs to Fiddler On The Roof, Schindler's List, Jaws, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Home Alone, Jurassic Park and Harry Potter... just to name a few.

Well now you can see some of these compositions performed live by the Fort Collins Symphony in Fort Collins at the Timberline Church.

"John Williams is one of the most iconic composers in the world today, primarily because of the music he's written for movies," said music director of the symphony Wes Kenney. "In this concert you're going to find music from 'Jaws,' 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind,' and we're also going to be doing the music from 'Catch Me If You Can."

"One of the reasons his music is so popular is because it's so well written and so for the people who get outfitted to play it, it's very exciting. It's very, very challenging music. For example we're going to do 'Hedwig's Theme' from the original Harry Potter film ... the violin parts are fiendishly difficult to play."

The Fort Collins Symphony has been around since 1948 and continues to be Larimer County's oldest art organization.

"The opportunity to actually hear the music live, being played in front of you, if you think about it you don't get a chance to do that as often as you might think, because most of the time you've heard John Williams' music it's been in a movie theater," Kenney said.

The performance is one night only on April 5th at 7pm at the Timberline Church in Fort Collins.

Tickets are $10 and $25 and can be purchased HERE.
