Fort Collins Proposes Building Solar Garden at Old Pickle Plant

For a town dedicated to sustainability, solar power options are strangely lacking in Fort Collins; but maybe not for long.

The Coloradoan reports the city is proposing a new 600-kilowatt solar garden to be built on the corner of Riverside Avenue and Mulberry Street, on the site of the old Dreher pickle plant. There, residents could buy energy from solar panels to offset their energy usage.

The estimated annual output of the 600 kW garden is about 900,000 kilowatt hours — enough to offset the total electric consumption of about 100 homes.
