Fort Collins police want to know if you've registered with the free, voluntary Patio Patrol program.

The Fort Collins police posted to Facebook saying, "Patio Patrol allows residents to register their external home security systems on a secure list accessible only to police."

When there is a crime, officers can contact residents who are in Patio Patrol and request the opportunity to review security footage to help an investigation move along.

The Facebook post states, "police will never have access to private video unless the owner provides it", and that "participants may decline access or remove their information from the list at any time".
