Fort Collins Extends Face Mask Mandate, Outdoor Expansion Permits Approved
Two important updates in the city's fight against COVID-19 include an extension of the mandatory mask rule in the Choice City and an approval on outdoor expansion permits for Fort Collins eateries and retail.
According to a press release, the City of Fort Collins has extended its mandatory mask rule indefinitely. The initial order was set to expire Saturday, May 30.
Face coverings are still required on outdoor patios, at retail and commercial businesses or on-site providers, in any City of Fort Collins building, on public transportation, and at any other public indoor space where people are not able to maintain a safe distance of six feet apart from others. There are exemptions to this rule, like indoor gyms, while eating or drinking at a restaurant table, within offices without shared work spaces, and more. You can see the full list here.
Along with this emergency extension, the City has also approved outdoor expansion permits, which allow restaurants and retail areas to take over sidewalks and parking spots, therefore increasing their capacity.
You can read more about both of these orders right here on the City's website.
