Food Banks Feed More Than I Thought!

Our radio stations are preparing for a holiday food drive tomorrow from 8am-6pm at Safeway locations throughout Northern Colorado.   I was reading about the Food Bank of Larimer County and the following stats blew me away.

• The need for emergency food in Larimer County rose approximately 30 percent in 2009.
• This increase in need equates to over 11,800 total unduplicated clients being served at two Food Share locations in Fort Collins and Loveland.
• Food Share – the direct service pantry program – is an important source of food for more than 11,800 low-income people each month, more than half are children.
