Food Bank for Larimer County Pledges Over $50K in Partner Grants
The Food Bank for Larimer County has pledged over $50,000 in grants to its 12 agency partners in order to help them continue their service to the community.
According to a press release from the Food Bank, these grants are more important than ever this year as non-profits work to navigate through the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We know that the need in our community is great. We also know that one organization alone cannot solve the challenges we face," said Amy Pezzani, CEO of the Food Bank, in the release. "But working together, with everyone pulling in the same direction, we can make a difference."
Rams Against Hunger, a food relief program for Colorado State University students facing food insecurity, is one of the recipients of the grant money.
The money will be used to create a standing food distribution site on CSU's campus.
Another recipient of the grant money is the Denver Rescue Mission, which also operates the Fort Collins Rescue Mission.
The organization will use the funds to purchase more supplies for the Northside Aztlan Community Center in Fort Collins, which provides emergency services to the homeless.
"[The pandemic] increased costs significantly. For that reason, we are particularly grateful that the Food Bank made this early and important investment in our future," said Griff Fryschlag, Vice President of Development at the Rescue Mission, in the release.
Other recipients of the grants include Aspire 3D, Boys & Girls Club Larimer County, Crossroads Safehouse, Global Leader - Poudre High School Food Pantry, House of Neighborly Service Berthoud, Homeward Alliance, North 40 Food Pantry, Salvation Army Fort Collins, Seventh Day Adventist, and The Matthews House.
On top of the grants, the Food Bank has also waived shared food maintenance fees for its partners, and provided them with $150,000 worth of food to make up for cancelled charity events.
The Food Bank for Larimer County is also facing its own challenges during the pandemic. You can volunteer for or donate to the Food Bank here.
