The Food Bank for Larimer County has joined with Feeding America for the month of September to focus on 'taking action' to fight hunger locally.

The month of September is dedicated to raising awareness of the 48 million people who are 'food insecure' in the United States, and encouraging people to take action on a local basis, all across the nation.

What does that  number look like here in Fort Collins? The Food Bank for Larimer County reports that almost 43,000 people are struggling with hunger; that means one out of three children as well.

For Hunger Action Day on September 8, the food bank is asking all of us to get on social media and post:

'On an empty stomach, I can't _______'

Share a photo using '#HungerActionMonth, @Food4LarimerCO and @FeedingAmerica.'

Rebecca Robinson, communications coordinator for the Food Bank for Larimer County, already shared her #MyEmptyPlate challenge.
