FoCo Girls Gone Derby Black + Blue Ball Photos, New Recruitment This Week

Roller derby and formal dresses are two things I never thought I would talk about in the same sentence, which is why I couldn't miss out on the opportunity to see the FoCo Girls Gone Derby throw down in gowns on Saturday at the 10th Annual Black and Blue Ball.

Parking was nearly impossible to find on Saturday night on Smokey Street in Fort Collins as the Psycho Sirens and Cinderhellas rolled into the strobe-lit arena, for a night cooler than any dance I ever went to. This roller bout wasn't just about the score, however. Unchained Malady and Boss Mam went home with the superlative titles 'Best Dressed' and 'Belle of the Ball.'

The Black and Blue Ball was also a donation drive for Animal House Rescue.

Anyone (18+) inspired to lace up some skates (without the dress, that is) can attend the FoCo Girls Gone Derby new recruitment informational meeting, this Wednesday, October 14 at 8 p.m., at the Qdoba Events Center.
