The three wins to start the season against hapless opponents - that gave Bronco County some hope that maybe things would be different this year -  now seem like a distant memory. It's not so much that the Broncos lost to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday as it is the manner in which it happened. For the second straight week, the Broncos were dominated by an opponent they should have and could have beaten. Last week it was the Steelers and the fading Ben Rothlisberger. This week, it was the Raiders who just days earlier lost their head coach when Jon Gruden resigned. In both instances, the fruit of victory was ripe for the picking, but the Broncos failed to capitalize, and now face an agonizingly difficult climb if they hope to reach the playoffs for the first time since their Super Bowl Championship

Nobody expected the Denver Broncos would be Super Bowl contenders this season, however, many of us thought, at the very least, a playoff berth was within their grasp. But, after getting completely throttled at home by one of their biggest rivals- and a difficult schedule ahead, it seems the Broncos are destined to miss the playoffs for a sixth consecutive year and likely will be searching for a new head coach long before they play the 17th and final game of the season.
