Police are investigating a fire that destroyed a home and damaged a chapel in Drake this weekend.

According to Denver7, firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire on River Fork and Sly Fox Roads in Drake at approximately 7:25 p.m. Saturday.

The home and a detached garage were completely engulfed in flames, and the fire was spreading to nearby trees. A propane tank supplying the home and a nearby church was also in danger, Battalion Chief Michael Cerovski of Loveland Fire Rescue Authority told Denver7.

For about an hour, Highway 34 was shut  down between the Dam Store and Mall Road while crews from Loveland Fire Rescue Authority, Big Thompson Canyon Fire, Glen Haven Fire, and Estes Fire worked to bring the fire under control.

The church was saved, but endured some damage - the extent of which is unclear, according to Cerovski.

No civilians or firefighters were injured in the fire. It is not clear whether anyone was living in the home at the time.
