Our National Parks are a true treasure. They are there for us to enjoy year-round with various activities and provide us with so many opportunities to create memories, whether it be solo adventures or outings with friends and/or family.

This weekend, we're celebrating National Public Lands Day and according to NEEF USA, the nation's largest single-day volunteering event is not only celebrating that, but free admission into National Parks here in Colorado on Saturday (Sept. 25) as well.

If you're looking for a way to help maintain and build new trails, help clean up, or simply give back to our great outdoors that provide so much for us, this is a wonderful opportunity to do that.

I did this a few times back when I was living in Washington, and the feeling of accomplishment I had while digging and helping pave the way for a new hiking trail was pretty awesome. When you walk on something that you helped create is a really cool feeling.

Now, here in Colorado, there are 50 opportunities to serve and give back, ranging from doing trail maintenance to planting flowers and shrubs and pollinator gardens.

We have some incredible National Parks here in Colorado, but the only one I've gotten to so far is Rocky Mountain National Park. It looks like it's going to be a beautiful weekend to get out and enjoy some of those fall colors too.
