Elections are over…how much did they cost us?
I, for one, am very happy the elections are over. Am I happy with the results? I'm not telling. Talking politics usually leads to bickering, whining, and a general dissatisfied feeling for all those involved. So, I would rather keep my political and religious views to myself, where they belong.
What I can say is that I am disgusted with how much money was spent on the 2010 campaigns. According to http://www.opensecrets.org/ nearly FOUR BILLION dollars were spent on political campaigns this year. When 10% of the country is out of work, when foreclosures are at a record high, when the economy is still reeling and the national debt is soaring...our politicians spent nearly 4 billion dollars to call each other doody-heads, have low paid workers call my house to ask for my support, and sent me 317 pieces of junk mail telling me what I should think. There has got to be a better way any of that money could have been spent. Think about it....4 BILLION dollars.
All I can say is good riddance to the political ads.
Maybe I am just getting bitter in my "old-age". I am entering the last 10 days of my 20's....nah. I don't think anyone could justify that kind of spending and make me feel good about it.
