Eldora, the 'winter playground for Colorado’s northern Front Range' announced in a press release that it will open on Friday, November 1 for the 2019-2020 season.

'The high-speed, six-person Alpenglow chairlift will start spinning at 9:00 a.m. and Eldora’s Opening Weekend Kickoff Party will continue throughout the weekend, with giveaways, live music—and that inimitable new-season thrill that every skier and rider knows,' Eldora announced.

November 1 is the earliest opening date in 22 years for Eldora, typically opening around Thanksgiving. Those who have the IKON pass have unlimited access to the mountain.

Located just outside of Nederland, about 30 minutes from Boulder, and one hour from Denver, the ski area is one of the few in Colorado that you do not need to take I-70 to get to (and you can even take a bus from the Denver Metro area).

I grew up in the Denver 'burbs, snowboarding at Eldora (mostly because I didn't have to drive to get to it, thanks, RTD). I haven't touched my board in the last decade, but back then, it certainly maintained a 'locals-only' atmosphere compared to crowded, (pricey) upscale I-70 resorts.

I'm excited to learn that my hometown slope, Eldora, will be featured in this year's Warren Miller film 'Timeless,' showing in Fort Collins and Loveland.
