One of the best parts of my childhood was Saturday morning cartoons. Waking up early, getting my cereal and sitting down in front of the TV and just watching cartoons for a couple of hours until my mom made me clean my room.Beano and  I got to relive part of our childhoods this weekend all thanks to the Lyric Cinema Cafe. That's right the Lyric Cinema Cafe. You know the theater where you would go to see some of the lesser known (yet usually better) films that aren't in the major theater. They started showing cartoons a couple of summers ago so if you were babysitting or just didn't have anything going on with your kids, you could kill a couple hours watching cartoons.

Did I mention that the cartoons are free? All you have to do is walk in and enjoy. Of course if you want the full experience I would recommend getting some cereal. They have a good selection of cereals to choose from and it is only $5 for unlimited bowls! I know Beano and I had about 5 bowls each, but I kind of lost count so who knows.

The best part of this is, they are old school cartoons. Then ones from my childhood. Sure there are some (very little) good cartoons on TV now, but kids now have no idea of the greatness that was 80's and early 90's cartoons. The Lyric shows a wide variety of them like, 'Thundercats', 'Voltron', 'Transformers', 'Animaniacs', 'G.I. Joe' and a few others. It is great for everyone! The only thing that would have added to the nostalgia would have been if they had classic commercials in the mix.

Also, as an added bonus the have a full cafe. That's right, its not just part of their name. So when you go in or take your kids to watch cartoons you can get yourself a coffee or what have you.

The Lyric shows cartoons Monday thru Saturday from 10am til noon. It is much more than a place to watch a film while drinking one of your favorite local beers. (Another great thing about that place :) )
