It's a debate that has been raging for quite some time.  Should women be allowed to fight in combat? Now the debate is over. The U.S. Army has enlisted Colorado’s first female into the Infantry. She is the sixth female in the country to be enlisted into a combat role.

Pvt. Kayleigh Schlag was sworn-in Friday afternoon at the Denver Military Entrance Processing Station downtown.

Schlag joined as part of a government initiative to lift all gender-based restrictions on military service. Schlag is a native of Denver and attended Heritage High School in Littleton.

Like it or not, times are changing. We salute Pvt. Schlag.
