I'm a big fan of stand-up comedy.  I actually have a pretty big collection at home.  Dane Cook is absolutely part of that collection.  And now it looks like he's going to be making people laugh from a different angle: musical theatre!

The Huffington Post reports that Cook will make his theatre debut in Mel Brooks' The Producers in late July.  He'll be playing the role of over-the-top Nazi playwright Franz Liebkind in Los Angeles for three performances.  If you're not familiar with the story of The Producers: Franz is the character who writes "Springtime for Hitler," a horrendous play that his cohorts produce on Broadway in an attempt to make tons of money from a tax loophole.

So what will be required of Cook in the role? In addition to speaking in a thick German accent throughout the duration of the play, he'll also have to carry a few tunes.

I hope someone gets his performance on tape!
