It's interesting to see the differences in fashion sense from one country to the next.  In the Yucatan and Mexico, for example, jewelry is a bit more...lively.

HuffPost Weird News reports that in Mexico, it's fashionable to wear Maquech beetles as jewelry.  The fun part is that the beetles are alive!

It's a fashion statement that dates back to Mayan culture.  Nowadays, the beetles have jewels and other adornments glued to them to make them more appealing to the eye.  Needless to say, animal rights activists aren't happy, but that doesn't seem to be stopping anyone.
