Cut Your Own Christmas Trees in Fort Collins: Your 2017 Guide
Yeah, we said it -- 'Christmas.' With Halloween behind us we're all thinking about the holidays. If cutting your own tree is a part of your holiday tradition, here's where you can do it in Northern Colorado.
Cut Your Own Tree Farms in Northern Colorado
Roosevelt National Forest at Red Feather -- Between December 2 and December 10, 2017, you can cut trees near Red Feather Lakes at the Canyon Lakes Ranger District with a permit. To get a permit, visit U.S. Forest Service office in Fort Collins or Ault, or call (970) 295-6700.
Permits go on sale November 28, 2017 for $10. What do you need? Four-wheel drive, good traction control, and decent weather. See everything else you need to know here.
Windsor's Christmas Trees -- Located off HWY 257, Windsor's Christmas Trees is open for cutting between December 2 and 9. You can also pre-tag your tree starting November 18, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
This one does not require any kind of special vehicle, as it's a bit less rugged, just outside of downtown Windsor across from the lake.
Rist Canyon Christmas Trees and Firewood -- 4620 Rist Canyon Rd., Laporte. Check back later HERE to see opening date and times.
