Have you ever dreamed up a theme park to fit your favorite movie?  For Potter fans that became a reality.  For me, I'm still waiting for my Goonies Theme Park.  I mean seriously, how awesome would a Goonies Theme Park be?  I digress.

Photographer Seph Lawless finds theme parks that were once the brainchild of either a super fan, or someone who wanted to capitalize on the popularity of a movie and takes haunting pictures of what could have been.  One of the most eerie places is "Land of Oz" park in North Carolina.

It's located in Beech Mountain and had a good run from 1970 to 1980, you could go to Dorothy's farmhouse, take a ride in a hot air balloon, meet your favorite characters from the film.  It once boasted crowds of 40,000 visitors but because of the economy, cost of maintenance, the land of Oz shut down.  Now, other than birthday parties and special events it's only open for one weekend in October.  So creepy.  By the way Seph Lawless' book Bizarro features the Top Ten Most Hauntingly Beautiful Abandoned Theme Parks and is out now.
