COVID-19 Has Affected How Coloradans Access Food, CSU Says
In a recent press release, Colorado State University reminded Fort Collins that research priorities aren't just in finding a cure or vaccine for COVID-19. Teams at CSU are also dedicated to looking at the economic devastation that has taken place and studying how food systems have been altered during this crazy time.
Out of this desire for understanding the effects of COVID-19 on Colorado's food supply, CSU put together a task force titled the CSU Task Force on Colorado Food Supply. Their goal, according to the press release, is to "provide up-to-the-minute, data-driven analysis on food supply chain issues brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic."
What does this mean, in a nutshell? The task force wants to ensure that every Colorado citizen has safe access to food and that the government is providing resources without wasting funds. Win, win!
Some topics that the task force will look into include better disinfecting practices for meat producers, emergency provision programs for school-aged children, farmer's markets, and more.
