From March 3, 2021, through March 26, 2021, the Colorado Department of Transportation took name suggestions, from kids only, on what to name the plows.

Oh, to have had the opportunity, as an adult, to submit a name for one of these snowplows. Alas, 'Name That Plow' was only for elementary school-aged kids.

Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) unveiled the 20 winning names on June 2, 2021, and these elementary school kids are very clever. It's too bad that CDOT only needed 20 names for the 20 new plows, it would be fun to see more fun names.

I'll the 20 that we selected, then I'll pick the ONE that I like the most.

  • Abominable

  • Arctic King

  • Bigfoot

  • Blizzard

  • Cheese Ball

  • Darth Blader

  • Eisenplower

  • Fresh Plowder

  • Frosty

  • Jack Frost

  • Mr. Plow

  • Mr. Snowtastic

  • No-Way Snow-Day

  • Olaf

  • Plowzilla

  • Sno-Way

  • Snow Crusher

  • Snowball

  • Snowtorius B.I.G.

  • Zebulon Ice

Those are some very strong names, without question. Hopefully, CDOT will let us all know where the newly-named snowplows will be deployed to. Imagine getting to wave at 'Fresh Plowder' as it cruises by on a stormy day.

As for my own, personal, favorite, I'm going to have to go with 'Zebulon Ice.' The name reminds me of Star Trek. I imagine a kid-Trekkie jotting down that name. Maybe they were drinking some Nestea instant tea and having a Totino's pizza like I used to when watching reruns in the 70s.

This was the first year that CDOT let kids name new snowplows; hopefully, they'll do it again.
