As we all know, Colorado is known for its elite skiing. In fact, it has some of the best resorts in the entire world that offer world class slopes.

Whether it is the amazing history tied to why people here ski to this day or the incredible experiences to be had out in the mountain towns that house these resorts, skiing is easily the state’s favorite pastime.

However, the state also houses some of the scariest, downright demented ski slopes in the entire country. Let’s take a ride down five of the steepest the state has to offer.

Wild Child is an extremely challenging double black diamond that finds it home at Loveland Ski Area.

To get to it, you’re going to need to take a hike. Once you get off of Chairlift Nine, you’ll have to trek in the snow for about 10 minutes or so.

Once you’re there, you’ll be faced with a truly intimidating sight. You’ll be looking down at a slope that’s beyond 50 degrees in angle, which is absolutely insane.

Telluride is a beloved mountain town and ski resort, but it is also home to quite possibly one of the most intimidating slopes in all of skiing.

Senior’s is a run that is 45 to 52 degrees in terms of steepness, but it also has been named one of the sketchiest in the country for the intense drops along the course.

To even get there, you need to make a 2 and a half hour long hike. Kulkea.com recommends bringing some water and snacks for the voyage, if you so choose to make it there.

Crazy Ivan 2 is another insane slope that provides riders with a unique experience.

It’s yet another slope you’re going to need to hike to, being that it is 15 minutes away from the Imperial Express Superchair.

It’s got a 49 degree descent, which may not be as steep as some of the other slopes, but being that it is 13,000 feet in elevation and requires you to make turns through rocks, it’s easily one of the most challenging in the state.

Arapahoe Basin might have one of the most challenging slopes in all of Colorado with Gauthier, a double black diamond that’s actually marked on the map.

This means you don’t have to make a hike to get there. All you need to do is take the small Pallavicini lift to the top, which has a beautiful view of the mountains

However, once you get to the slope, you’ll be face-to-face with an intimidating sight. Not only is it 46 degrees, but you'll have to be an expert tree and mogul skier to get to the bottom unscathed.

We now get to the steepest tree-cut ski run in Colorado. Actually, it’s the steepest in all of North America; Rambo at Crested Butte.

This is another slope that is easily accessible on the mountain, but it’s easily one of the hardest in the entire state.

Not only is it extremely steep at 55 degrees, but it also has some truly nasty moguls that makes it quite treacherous. Not only is it steep, but it remains steep throughout the entire 900 ft. run. It’s safe to say that if you decide to ride it, you’re going to have to commit the whole way down.
