Colorado State University's Fort Collins campus has officially gone mask-free.

According to a news release via the official CSU website, Colorado State University's Pandemic Preparedness Team made the latest change in keeping with current national, state and county guidance and low COVID rates within the state, local and university community; as a result of the latest change, all visitors on CSU's Fort Collins campus can now roam university buildings and grounds without a mask or any other face covering.

Even though masks are no longer required and although university staff members won't ask individuals about his/her vaccination status, the use of a mask or other face covering is still strongly encouraged for those who are not fully vaccinated unless they are outside or alone in an enclosed space, as per the news release.

In light of the latest lack-of restrictions, CSU officials will work in the coming weeks to remove most COVID-related signs from campus in anticipation of a full, traditional return to campus this upcoming fall.

The Coloradan reported that CSU has accounted for 3,287 COVID-19 cases since May 2020. As per Colorado COVID-19 data, CSU's Fort Collins campus was named as the site of Larimer County's largest COVID-19 outbreak between Oct. 2, 2020, and the resolution of the outbreak which was announced on June 22.

Fortunately, between the commencement of the Spring 2021 semester, along with widespread vaccine eligibility, COVID-19 cases on CSU's campus have dramatically decreased; the university has reported just 14 COVID-19 cases since the beginning of June.
