The first known American victim of Sunday's horrific Sri Lanka terror attacks has been identified.

The New York Post reports that 40-year-old Denver businessman Dieter Kowalski died in the Easter attacks.

Kowalski had reportedly checked into the Cinnamon Grand Colombo hotel around 3:45 a.m. Sunday. He was visiting Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo on a work trip

A few hours later, the Cinnamon Grand Colombo was one of three hotels targeted by suicide bombers.

The coordinated attacks reportedly killed 290 people and injured more than 500. Sri Lankan officials have arrested a number of suspects and blame the attack on a local terror group called National Thowfeek Jamaath.
