According to the list of the 10 most dangerous states in the nation from usnews.com, Colorado is one of the most dangerous states in the nation. the Cenntenial State placed third on the list of the most dangerous states in 2024.

When it comes to safety in Colorado, it appears that both violent and property crimes are a concern. Colorado's property crime rates are the second highest in the nation at 3,148 per 100,000. The only other state to beat out the property crime rate is Washington with 3,356 per 100,000.

Violent crime in Colorado has a rate of 492 per 100,000. Violent crime includes murder, nonnegligent manslaughter, robbery, aggravated assault, rape, and attempted rape. States that are considered to be more dangerous than Colorado are Louisana, placing second, and New Mexico, the most dangerous state on the list.
