Chances are, if you drive through your neighborhood and there are some people outside, you are going to get a wave or two as you pass by. This is how it is in almost every neighborhood I have ever been to in Colorado. There's a reason why: Colorado is one of the friendliest states when it comes to neighbors.

According to RTA Outdoor Living, Colorado ranks eighth out of the top ten states for friendly neighbors. Hawaii came in with top honors for friendly neighbors and our neighbors to the north in Wyoming ranked second. Other top ten friendly states include Kansas, Utah, South Dakota, Maine, Louisiana, and Minnesota.

States that have the most unfriendly neighbors include Idaho, Nevada, Alaska, Ohio, Wisconsin, New Hampshire, California, and Texas. Coming in at the least friendly was Washington D.C.

I know one thing for sure: I am thankful to live in a state with such friendly people. The next time you see your neighbor out and about, be sure to say hello. At the very least, give them a wave as you are driving by. It doesn't cost anything to be nice.
