Do You Know About Colorado’s 4 Goodwill Outlet Stores?
There are many, many Goodwill stores in Colorado, but just a few of their outlet stores. How many Coloradans have even heard of them, before?
Goodwill Outlet Stores in Colorado Are Worth Checking Out
I was hanging out with a friend recently and he was telling me how he and his girlfriend had hit up a Goodwill Outlet store, and you could have knocked me over with a feather: "A what?"
If you like getting great deals on things at the regular Goodwill stores, you're going to want to get to one of Colorado's four outlet locations.
Shoppers at Goodwill Outlet locations will find non-selling items and items not deemed to be in condition for selling.
The first Goodwill in Colorado opened in 1918 in Denver, about 16 years after the very first one opened in Boston. The first Goodwill Outlet store in Colorado opened in 2009, according to 9News.
I guess I missed that news, because I didn't know about any of them until 15 years after that first one opened. I've yet to get to one, but it's on my list of "to dos."

Even Goodwill themselves admit to how it can be "madness" at these outlet "Buy the Pound" stores, where people are able buy items by-the-pound: clothes, knick-knacks, household items, whatever. Shoppers have to wait for the "O.K." to start browsing.

Every half hour or so, they replace what bins are out on the floor, and the waiting for the "O.K." begins again. My friend said it's absolutely crazy, but you do find good deals.
What Items are at Colorado Goodwill Outlet Stores
According to Goodwill:
- Items that have been at their regular stores for six weeks without being sold.
- Items that weren't in goo enough shape to make it into their regular stores.
Goodwill tells you to bring a large shopping bag, because you may not be able to grab one of the carts that they have available, and gloves to protect your hands from sharp objects that may be in the bins.

Also, leave kids under 16 at home, as they're not allowed in, because there could be a lot of pushing and shoving going on and they could get hurt.
Apparently, there are a lot of folks who buy items at these outlets, and then re-sell them for a profit. It makes sense: you can get a lot of stuff for very cheap (around $1.70 per pound) which may in turn be valuable to people online.
