As of late, it's been a tough situation for the Colorado Eagles and it's actually kind of a good news/bad news sort of thing. With the Colorado Avalanche having a fantastic season, they are looking to add depth to hopefully make a deep playoff run...however, that also means they are swiping up some of the Eagles' best players to make that possible. Four have actually been assigned to the Avalanche's roster in the past 10 days or so.

With several key players called up to the Avs, the Eagles have been fighting hard and continue to play tough, but unfortunately it wasn't enough over the weekend as the team suffered a 5-4 defeat to the hands of the Ontario.

Eagles forward Alex Newhook netted a pair of goals, while defenseman Justin Barron earned the first two points of his pro career, but it would not be enough as the Eagles fell to the Ontario Reign 5-4 on Saturday.

Eagles forwards Sampo Ranta and Ryan Wagner also lit the lamp in the loss, while goaltender Jonas Johansson suffered the defeat in his Eagles debut, allowing five goals on 25 shots.

The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday night as they travel to Bakersfield to take on the Condors for a two game series which will be followed by a game in Ontario.

They return home for the final 3 games of the season starting on May 12 vs the San Diego Gulls.
