A Colorado man is now in custody, after stealing a car, causing a mutli-vehicle collision, and then fleeing from the scene on March 24.

According to Denver 7 News, the Englewood Police Department received multiple calls regarding an accident on South Broadway and E. Girard Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

When Englewood police and Denver Fire arrived on scene, they discovered three vehicles were involved in the crash.

During the initial investigation, Englewood Police learned one of the vehicles involved in the crash was stolen.

Prior to the accident, a suspect had been fleeing from Denver Police in the stolen vehicle. At that time, he was travelling on W. Hampden Avenue.

After crashing into two other vehicles at 3384 S. Broadway, the suspect exited the stolen vehicle and fled on foot.

Denver officers chased the man, and at one point, the suspect reportedly stopped and held a knife to his throat. At this time, officers were able to talk the man down down and negotiate him to eventually surrender. The suspect was then taken into custody.

According to Denver Fire, at least two patients were evaluated at the scene of the crash for injuries. Crews remained at the intersection for several hours to eliminate hazards.
