If you subscribe to DirecTV service and watch things like The Voice, Revolution, Saturday Night Live, Sunday Night Football9News or other NBC programming on channel 9...you might be out of luck as of Midnight, November 30th, 2012. Apparently there is another negotiating dispute, this time between DirecTV and KUSA and we might lose channel 9 as soon as tomorrow.

From 9News.com:

Starting at midnight November 30, KUSA may no longer be available on DirecTV. That means you could lose access to your favorite NBC programming, including NFL Sunday Night Football and entertainment programming such as The Voice, Revolution, Saturday Night Live and more as well as your local news, weather and sports. Tell DirecTV to keep your NBC station KUSA by calling 1-888-777-2454.

This is not the first time there has been a dispute with DirecTV, this summer there was a dispute between the satellite provide and Viacom, and Viacom channels were actually taken off the air until negotiations were completed.

I really don't like that these companies let this happen. I don't know enough to know which side is at fault, or if both are at fault. Both KUSA viewers and DirecTV subscribers have to suffer as they are used as negotiating points in meetings between the companies. It's not like this was a surprise for KUSA or DirecTV. They let this deadline come and can now use the threat of taking the station of of the satellite service as leverage against one-another.

And I bet there are a few die-hard fans of some of that NBC programming that are going to be livid if they can't watch their favorite show. At least this Sunday night's football game is only the Eagles and the Cowboys, a game not too many people around here care about. Can you imagine the kind of blow-back that would be going on if Peyton Manning and the Broncos played on Sunday night instead and Bronco fans were told they wouldn't be able to watch the game?
